We will start our journey from the capital of Mauritius, namely the city of Port Louis. This charming town was founded in the 18th century by French colonists, giving it a colonial character. The city is lively, so we will explore it on foot. Our walk will begin from the promenade known as Caudan Waterfront. This tourist spot is full of shops, restaurants, cafes, and stalls, where colorful umbrellas spread overhead will add charm to our photos.
During our visit to the famous market called “Central Market,” we will experience noise, hustle, and try a local drink known as “Aluda.” Additionally, we will try street food surrounded by the aroma of various spices.
Next, we will head to the Chinese district, once inhabited by immigrants. Another stage of our trip will be the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, where 500 plant species grow, including 80 species of palms. Particularly noteworthy are the beautiful water lilies. After exploring the garden, we will head north to the town of Cap Malheureu, where a picturesque church with a red roof awaits.
